Behind the scenes of NBC’s Olympics Coverage

This is a great blog… it shows the massive amounts of work that NBC puts into covering the Olympics this year, and will all the technical Juicy bits too…. Funny that with all that work, they only broadcast for like 3 hours a day. Silly.

Air traffic as seen by the FAA.

This is from my friend Audrey… very sweet stuff.

The following flight pattern visualizations are the result of experiments leading to the project Celestial Mechanics by Scott Hessels and Gabriel Dunne. FAA data was parsed and plotted using the Processing programming environment. The frames were composited with Adobe After Effects and/or Maya and the final piece was highlighted at SIGGRAPH 2005 in the NVIDIA Immersive Dome Experience.

250,000 Superballs, one San Francisco Street.

Ok, I don’t think I’ve ever liked a silly web video this much… Absolutely beautiful and such an amazing song….  I wish I had made this!
Essentially, they take 250,000 super balls and drop them down a San Francisco street.  Sounds simple enough, but the effect (coupled with the music and slow motion) is just magical.

Awesome Hitachi “Schoolhouse Rock” style video.

This is a fantastic/fun explanation of harddrive technology…. how hitachi is going to increase the size of flash drives by up to 10x by going ‘perpendicular’…. it’s a ton of fun to watch!  It’s made in the style of  the old "Schoolhouse Rock" videos.
