it would have been fun to see this! I could have done pretty well in pitfall maybe?

Awesome! The National Archives has gotten together with Google and provided some old and famous footage/film online for free… Some are quite entertaining. ![]()
Quoted: This selection of nineteen “Headquarters Films (HQ)” preserved in the National Archives, represent a series of over 250 titles collected by the NASA Office of Public Affairs between 1962 and 1981. They were produced using footage from the various NASA research facilities and space flight
Great story of an Austictic high schooler who suits up for the last game of the season and scores 20 points for the team. Unbelievable. Great store….. I give it about 10 minutes until this is made into a movie on PAX.
Quoted: Team manager McElwain finally plays, and becomes instant superstar
Japanese companies are quite crooked and have the government in their pocket… they did this with cars by making people need to get a $2000 to $4000 inspection every 2 years on their car…. now it appears that consumer electronics are in the same boat… FOR SECURITY REASONS?! come on!?
Quoted: So from April 1st 2006, ALL electronic products sold in Japan before 2001 will be prohibited from the 2nd hand market!
There is no currently funnier man alive… Inventor of “The Office” and “Extras” and a top notch podcast staring Karl Pilkington… (”I could eat a knob at night”)…
If you don’t know who he is, you are not part of the in crowd. Think “the father of Steve Carell”.
Quoted: Multi-award-winning writer/comedian Ricky Gervais’s officially sanctioned web site. Find out what Ricky’s up to next and get lots of nauseating detail on his previous work. You can even ask questions.
This is a pretty darn good review of the best new/promising Web 2.0 apps… That term is getting pretty cliche, but appropriate sometimes I guess.
Quoted: It’s been almost three months since my last major roundup of Web 2.0 software and I thought it’s about time to release another update. The pace of innovation in the next generation of online software has continued unabated and we’ve seen dozens
This is an epic software solution for media. This in my opinion (along with iTunes video download) is going to revolutionize media distribution to the masses. Perfect solution for those with video players but no good/dependable source of fresh content. Simply subscribe to an internet TV channel, and this will automatically download content to your pc night & day…. Also deletes watched files so that you don’t have extra crap laying around on your PC (like a Tivo). It’s FREE and OPEN Source!!! Better and Better content is coming out each day.
Quoted: Download and watch all the best internet TV shows and videos in one powerful application. New channels arrive daily in the built-in Channel Guid

New Camera for me.
Ok, my Canon Powershot SD300 finally went tits up. I carry my camera with me every day… So I figure that if I have a camera for a year, that’s like 3 years for an average person. ![]()
So I bought a new camera. At first I thought it was going to be a Costco Rent-To-Eventually-Return, but I’m actually falling in love with it. It takes pretty darn good picts, and messes up only occasionally more compared to my old SD300, but it has so many awesome ’swiss army knife features’, that I’m actually in love. Plus it’s really tiny and a great price (like just above 200 on ebay). It’s the Casio EX-S500. What’s funny is that my first digital camera was a Casio and the ’swiss army knife features’ on that were also unmatched for a really really long time.
The video is even more than you would expect it to be. 40 Skips with one rock…
I have now found my true calling in life.
Hilarious! This comedy central guy and his TrendSpotting bits are off the hook. The funniest one right now is the Social Networking video… a definate MUST watch.

The most fun I’ve seen a Java Applet be in a long time…. Enter your name or any name or any partial name and see the history of this name’s popularity from the 1880’s to today. A ton of fun!!! (from hahatango.blogspot.com/ )
Ok, some programs are evolutionary, some are revolutionary…. this program, "Hamachi" is the latter by far.
Install this free program, create or join a password protected group, and instantly make your computer part of a local area network with your friends/coworkers/gamers… Shares files then through your windows workgroup (everyone shows up in your network neighborhood) with normal windows security or play networked games… You’ll all have an additional and similar 5.* IP address (through a software based network card on your computer) that allows for direct communication between each other… share anything you want! Works on Linux AND Windows… Mac OSX is coming soon.
I’ve created a group called "matthallett", install the software and email me for a password to join this group. matt at matthallett.com
This is a great blog… it shows the massive amounts of work that NBC puts into covering the Olympics this year, and will all the technical Juicy bits too…. Funny that with all that work, they only broadcast for like 3 hours a day. Silly.
Quote: A worker at NBC’s MASSIVE broadcast center in Torino posts pics of their modular, easily-transported racks of gear (lots of wires/fiber included), and answers detailed questions that you’d never think of
This is from my friend Audrey… very sweet stuff.
The following flight pattern visualizations are the result of experiments leading to the project Celestial Mechanics by Scott Hessels and Gabriel Dunne. FAA data was parsed and plotted using the Processing programming environment. The frames were composited with Adobe After Effects and/or Maya and the final piece was highlighted at SIGGRAPH 2005 in the NVIDIA Immersive Dome Experience.
Got an old XBOX lying around that you’d like to do something with now that you have a new shiny xbox 360…. here is the brain dead simple instructions on how to turn it into a smoking media center for a TV.

Ok, I don’t think I’ve ever liked a silly web video this much… Absolutely beautiful and such an amazing song…. I wish I had made this!
Essentially, they take 250,000 super balls and drop them down a San Francisco street. Sounds simple enough, but the effect (coupled with the music and slow motion) is just magical.
This is a fantastic/fun explanation of harddrive technology…. how hitachi is going to increase the size of flash drives by up to 10x by going ‘perpendicular’…. it’s a ton of fun to watch! It’s made in the style of the old "Schoolhouse Rock" videos.
